According to the World health Organisation, real health is not the absence of disease but wellness of the total person – body, mind, soul and spirit. Most of us have a world view that divides the human person into different parts. Then we allocate each part’s health to an expert: die body is the medical doctor’s area; the psychologist or psychiatrist must take care of the emotional part; the forming of the mind is the teacher’s task; and the spiritual aspect is the area of the religious minister.
Actually a human person is a unity of many aspects which cannot be taken apart. To be well, means to have a balanced life where all aspects are, to a more or lesser degree, healthy. Wellness means to be active, feeling great and positive without a lot of stress, looking forward with hope and expecting the best.
