- The true believer is *a weak and dependant person; *who has given his/her life to God; *who believes that Jesus is Saviour and Lord; *and allows the Spirit of Jesus to control his/her life by continually making deliberate choices to be obedient to the Master.
- We can only influence the world when we live who we are: when we live united to Jesus with his Spirit controlling us and in unity with fellow believers who form the body of Christ. This meaningful life is formed by a process of growth: we hear the voice of God and obey it – and thus the life of Jesus becomes visible. We can say that the Word of God forms our new life.
- Words are images to express ideas through communication. We live in a world controlled by the evil one. The words that come from him are lies (John 8: 44); we are continuously bombarded with half-truhts and lies. We are brainwashed and easily believe what our culture, our society, the media and our friends and relatives tell us.
- God’s Word is a Man who called Himself “the Truth”. He speaks to us through his Spirit using holy Scripture. He wants to saturate our lives with his Truth. This is brainwashing: a natural process by which certain ideas are not only accepted rationally but are also internalised into the sub-conscious mind. We have to change our bad self-image by accepting what God says about us. We are spiritual people with God’s power at work in us – that is, however, not the power of this world but the power of Love.
